“November 5, 2026 was not the day I lost a title. It was the day I returned to being Edison Yu.”Chapter Two Begins

Edison Yu is an engineer, architect, builder, and researcher: the founder of Yu Genius Lab™, the creator of GOE™, and the builder of GOE Global™. Chapter One, which included seventeen years at Key Digital, closed on November 5, 2026, and Chapter Two began the same day. Published through Yu Genius Lab, this site is the official personal record of that journey: the work, the thinking it produced, and the ongoing exploration of GOE Lab, his personal lab, where a habit of learning and building beyond the workday, kept since he first read about Python in 2007, continues.

Chapter Two

A simple introduction

For many years, public identity was associated with titles. Engineer. Director. Chief Technology Officer. Those titles described responsibilities. They never defined the person.

Chapter Two begins with a simple introduction: Edison Yu.

While concepts, prototypes, research, documentation, and development work began earlier, November 5, 2026 marks the official public introduction of Yu Genius Lab™, GOE™, GOE Lab™, and GOE Global™. The date represents the completion of Chapter One and the beginning of Chapter Two.

What he has done

A selected record

Six moments from Chapter One, a career spent building products, fixing systems that had failed, and running the operation behind them.

  1. Firmware for the world’s first four-input HDMI 1.0 card. Written from the datasheet in three months, on a chipset no one in Korea had used before.Infinix, Seoul

  2. A matrix switcher abandoned mid-development, rebuilt in a New York warehouse. The next year it was named one of CE Pro’s High Impact Products of the Year.Macro Image Technology

  3. A mass-production product that failed at first power-up, brought to production. The design was root-caused on a factory floor in Malaysia; the product later won a CEDIA EXC!TE award.Key Digital

  4. The industry’s first 4K 8×8 HDMI matrix switcher, and a premise-control platform recognized with Best of IBS.Key Digital · Director of Engineering

  5. Two granted U.S. patents for control over HDMI, and the start of an enterprise AV-over-IP program.Key Digital · Director of Engineering

  6. Chief Technology Officer. Technology strategy, an ERP transformation, and the product, operational, and financial lifecycle held end to end through a global component shortage.Key Digital

How he thinks

One question, asked through every generation of technology

How can independent parts work together as one reliable system without losing identity, accountability, or control?

Television, HDMI, control systems, AV over IP, and enterprise operations each became a different instrument for the same investigation. The principles came afterwards, as a summary of experience: each was built first, observed second, and concluded third.

  1. An idea counts only once it is implemented.
  2. Most failures emerge at boundaries.
  3. Connection without trust becomes risk.
All six principles

How he leads

Engineering depth, carried to the executive level

Executive decisions are rarely technical, operational, financial, or strategic. They are usually all four at once.

As chief technology officer he held five domains from the executive seat and made decisions with all of them in view.

  • EngineeringArchitecture and technology strategy across 150+ products
  • OperationsProcurement, inventory, logistics, delivery
  • FinanceCost, budget, and inventory as capital
  • ManufacturingContract manufacturers and production readiness
  • Product strategyPortfolio decisions and turnkey solutions
